Personal Care Aides (PCAs)

Venture Forthe aides are highly trained, dedicated and compassionate.  The primary goal of a PCA is to make a person comfortable in their homes by helping with a variety of activities for daily living.

The aides duties could include: Meal Preparation, Medication Reminders, Shopping & Transportation, Bathing & Toileting, Light Housekeeping, Companionship, and more.

Scope of PCA Practice:  Actions that our outside of PCA scope of practice:
  • Providing wound care of any kind, including applying pressure to wounds, putting on bandages, etc.
  • Applying heat or cold packs to injuries 
  • Give/administer medication including:
    Applying prescription creams
    Putting pre-filled medications into food/drink
    Administer insulin, or check blood glucose levels
    Adjust or clean oxygen tanks or oxygen supplies
    Check blood pressure
  • Irrigation of a catheter (PCAs are allowed to change/empty the bag)
  • Use of feeding tubes, performing gastric lavage or gavage
