Who qualifies as a caregiver?
Friends, family members, neighbors, almost anyone is eligible to be your caregiver, with the exception of spouses and designated representatives.
Can my child take care of me?
Yes, consumers can be taken care of by their children.
What requirements are needed to be a caregiver?
The caregiver requires a current full medical exam, must be over 18 years or age, legally able to work in the U.S. and provide two forms of government issued identification (such as NYS ID, social security card, passport or green card).
Do caregivers need any special training or certifications?
No, caregivers do not require any special training or certifications.
Who pays for CDPAP?
NYS Medicaid pays for CDPAP. Venture Forthe acts as the fiscal intermediary, meaning we act on behalf of the consumer to bill for the services provided, process, and pay the caregiver.
