Building Connections, Confidence, and Community: A Look at June for SDP

June 18, 2026

June is keeping us busy in the best way!

This month, participants in Venture Forthe’s Structured Day Program are spending time out in the community, trying new activities, getting creative, staying active, and most importantly, enjoying time together.

Community outings are always a highlight, and June’s calendar is packed with opportunities to explore Western New York. Our participants are attending local festivals and events, visiting museums and parks, and taking trips to some of Buffalo’s most interesting destinations. From the Juneteenth Parade and Greek Heritage Festival to Buffalo City Hall and the Buffalo History Museum, there’s no shortage of places to discover and experiences to share.

Wellness is especially important to us at SDP. Scheduled throughout the month are morning walks, chair yoga, Brain & Body Balance exercises, meditation, bowling, and mini golf – just a few of the ways participants are staying active while having fun. These activities support both physical and cognitive wellness while giving everyone a chance to connect and enjoy the day together.

June also brings plenty of opportunities to learn something new. Sign language lessons, guest speakers, trivia challenges, cultural activities, and community-based experiences spark conversation and encourage participants to explore new interests and perspectives.

One activity we’re especially excited about is the continuation of our Culture & Cuisine series. This month, we’re taking a closer look at Poland. Participants will have the opportunity to experience Polish culture through traditional foods, music, history, and customs while learning about the traditions and heritage that make Poland unique. The response to this series has been wonderful so far, and we’re looking forward to another month of great discussions and shared experiences.

As always, creativity is in full bloom. Gardening projects, art classes, DIY crafts, vase decorating, and orchid repotting give participants plenty of opportunities to be hands-on, express themselves, and maybe even discover a new favorite hobby.

Of course, some of the best moments aren’t on the calendar at all. They’re the conversations shared over lunch, the friendly competition during Bingo, the laughter during a movie, and the connections that continue to grow day after day. Those moments are what make Structured Day Program such a special community.

As we continue through June and head into summer, we’re grateful for the participants, staff, families, and community partners who make these experiences possible. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
